Convening, Catalyzing, and Facilitating Agents of Change for Healthcare Improvement (Level 3)

Session Description: Question: What happens when you assemble a group of dedicated professionals from diverse sectors of the healthcare industry and bring them together to discuss and debate—with intentionality—some of the most daunting healthcare challenges of our time?

Answer: Healthcare Improvement Trailblazers Summit 2023

The WHY was the easy part. From health equity to technology interoperability to patient advocacy to payment models to healthcare education and beyond, the challenges in healthcare are overwhelming when we are silo-ed and separated by sector, each attempting to solve for problems whose breadth and scope are far beyond any one stakeholder’s focus, capabilities and resources. At any given time, each individual, organization, or institution is creating, implementing, and/or measuring the impact of their own bold ideas for a U.S. healthcare system that delivers timely, equitable and optimized care at lowest cost. If we could bring together these purpose-driven and like-minded entities, what thoughtful, actionable, and measurable solutions might reveal themselves? Thus, the Healthcare Improvement Trailblazers Summit was convened in Washington, D.C. over two days in June 2023.

The HOW required significant investment of resources to create an environment designed to inspire, foster trust and sharing of concrete examples of successful initiatives and how they can be replicated. The sharing and challenging of novel ideas, best thinking and approaches for truly actionable healthcare improvement solutions would be the output.

Learning Objectives:

  • Consider the importance and relevancy of cross-stakeholder/cross-sector communication, engagement and collaboration to address big challenges
  • Communicate with peers and colleagues about healthcare challenges that your organizations or institutions may be uniquely positioned to address
  • Commit to elevating one aspect of the CE/CPD program to address a healthcare challenge using the principles and methods of quality improvement and/or implementation science
