Session Description: Conference sessions related to outcomes often overlook how to start with basic data organization and analysis. How does a beginner understand how to take results of a survey, organize the output, and construct a simple presentation to highlight results and “tell the story” of an educational activity? This session will provide actionable steps on how to sort and clean data, conduct simple analysis techniques to understand the different groups of learners within a single activity, quickly run data (including pivot tables), and use data visualization best practices to craft a meaningful presentation.
In this highly interactive session, learners will practice basic data organization, analysis, and presentation skills using the Microsoft Office programs Excel and PowerPoint. Participants should come to the session with a laptop computer, ready to collaboratively practice on a shared data set which will mimic CME evaluation and outcomes results. We will discuss common pitfalls that are included in outcomes reports and how best to avoid them.
Learning Objectives:
Confidently sort, clean, and analyze their outcomes data sets.
Develop outcomes reports that will be meaningful for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and account for common issues and mistakes within their outcomes reporting.
