Pre-Conference Workshop

Career Pathways: Basics

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn about the foundation and value of continuing education (CE) for healthcare professionals and develop an understanding of the accreditation landscape. Adult learning theories will be discussed, and learners will apply those theories to case studies. Participants will also explore how to identify needs and gaps, develop learning objectives, and evaluate the success of activities. The workshop will also include an overview of the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education and an opportunity to apply the Standards to scenarios commonly encountered within the profession. As part of the Career Pathway Series and against the backdrop of the National Learning Competencies, participants will also be provided with next steps for professional development.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the CE accreditation landscape for healthcare professionals
  • Incorporate the basics of adult learning theories into activity planning and evaluation
  • Apply the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education into their professional settings
  • Utilize available resources for their own professional development
